Senior Phase Options

MUSIC PERFORMING N3-ADVANCED HIGHER

What's involved? 

BASICS
- Learn to play 2 instruments (can recieve instrumental tuition outwith classes where pupils will recieve an additional lesson with a specialist tutor)
- Learn how write your own music.
- Learn how to identify musical concepts in a variety of question types

N4 ADDED VALUE UNIT - Perform an 8 minute programme (grade 2) across 2 instruments in front of an internal examiner

N5 FINAL ASSESSMENT - Perform an 8 minute programme (grade 3) across 2 instruments in front of an external examiner

HIGHER AND ADVANCED HIGHER- 12 minute and 18 minute programme over 2 instruments.

SENIOR PHASE

MUSIC TECHNOLOGY N3-HIGHER

• Working solely on computers, you are not required to be able to play an instrument but if you wish to use your instrument skills then you can.
• You will use Garageband and Protools to create projects such as a Radio Show, TV Adverts, Football Commmentary, Documentaries, Dance Track, Radio Drama, Film Soundtrack.
• Collaborative learning: learners can work independently and with others to learn how to record live instruments as they would in a studio, learning about microphone technique and how to mix tracks.
• Learners will require to complete short reports on different genres such as Punk, Hip Hop, Dance/Electronica and Celtic Rock. We will also explore copyright law.
